Formed by the late legend Andrew Weatherall, The Sabres Of Paradise are one of the seminal Warp acts from the early ’90s. Fusing house and techno with ambient, acid, and industrial, they released their debut album ‘Sabresonic’ in 1993, followed by the masterpiece ‘Haunted Dancehall’ in 1994—described by The Guardian as “the first concept techno album”. Despite their relatively short tenure, The Sabres were highly influential in UK dance music, forging a dubby yet razor-sharp sound they called “metallic”. Now, three decades since their last work, the group will reform and touch down at Dekmantel Festival with five original live band members (Jagz Kooner, Gary Burns, Richard Thair, Phil Mossman, and Nick Abnett), who between them have played with Primal Scream, LCD Soundsystem, The Aloof, David Holmes, and Death In Vegas. We’re incredibly proud to present this special show, in memory of the great Weatherall.
