Over the past decade, Sega Bodega (real name: Salvador Navarrete) has been rerouting the intersection of dance music and experimental pop. As a producer, vocalist, and songwriter, the Irish-Chilean artist has become synonymous with distinctly digital-feeling tracks that are as dark and introspective as they are euphoric and club-ready. A co-founder of the NUXXE label, Sega Bodega has also played a key role in the rise of like-minded artists such as Coucou Chloe and SHYGIRL. And that’s not to mention his production credits on the works of Arca, Christine and the Queens, and Sevdaliza, amongst others. On ‘Dennis’, Sega Bodega’s latest record (released on his own Ambient Tweets imprint), the artist dives deeper into the ghostly side of his universe, translating sleepless nights and a tormented sense of longing into dreamy, dazzling 21st-century ballads—all immaculately produced, as always. It’s no surprise that we’re thrilled about his Dekmantel debut.
