Rabih Beaini & Tomoko Mukaiyama
Rabih Beaini and Tomoko Mukaiyama found each other on the avant-garde crossroads of music and art, and that’s exactly where they both excel. The Lebanese (and globetrotting) producer, DJ and label head Beaini has been active in music for nearly three decades: releasing futuristic fringe techno on his Morphine imprint, scoring the work of filmmaker Vincent Moon, curating the CTM Festival in Berlin, and bringing Indonesian music to Berghain, amongst others. Japanese pianist Mukaiyama has been operating from Amsterdam since the early ’90s, boldly toying with the conventions of her instrument and bridging the gaps between various art disciplines—most notably, between music and performance/visual art—at the highest possible level. Following collaborations with big shots like Louis Andriessen, Marina Abramović and the Dutch National Ballet, Dekmantel Festival sees Mukaiyama reuniting with Beaini for a special show on the occasion of our 10th festival edition.
