Garnering the respect of figureheads like Oscar Mulero and Marcel Dettmann, as well as the unbridled enthusiasm of our festival crowd last year, Quelza champions layered, intricate techno interlaced with breaky IDM that packs a punch. As a producer, he pushes for unorthodox, cinematic sound design alongside a sensitivity towards movement and high contrast—trademarks that (you heard it first) are all part of his upcoming release on Dekmantel Records. When DJing, Quelza can open a set with a track by the visionary composer Philip Glass, but also land whip-smart, fuzzy basslines and steely four-to-the-floor, Quelza keeps on carving out a truly distinctive, shape-shifting signature, switching scopes and angles as he ups the rhythmic pressure with every next sequence.
