Mala Junta (D. Dan, Hyperaktivist & DJ TOOL)
Those who wrapped up Dekmantel Festival with Hyperaktivist and Nene H last year already got a foretaste of what’s to come this summer. Returning with a full-fledged delegation of her Mala Junta collective, Hyperaktivist will be joined by DJ TOOL and D.Dan for an unbridled night at Het HEM. Founded in 2018, Mala Junta was established by friends Ana Laura Rincón (Hyperaktivist), Joachim Palsby (DJ TOOL), and Nayme Hassany, all based in Berlin but respectively hailing from Venezuela, Denmark, and France. A DIY reaction to the monotonous and non-inclusive trends in Berlin’s nightlife, the three set out to create a non-conforming night that foregrounds QTPOC talent and thrives on techno—especially its fast, old-school and sexy strains—but absolutely doesn’t stop there. Now, a few years later, the collective has residencies around the world, hosts its own Berghain nights, and is set to make its official Dekmantel debut. That said, the Mala Junta crew is bent on sticking to its original mission; ‘We evolve because we cannot not, but we work hard in sustaining our core radicalness.’
