One of the highlights of Selectors ’24, Kampire brought her characteristic zest to The Nest—seamlessly jumping between bass-heavy rollers and bubbly shakers. This isn’t her first moment of Dekmantel fame; Kampire has been connecting the dots between various strains of African club music—past, present, and future—and broadcasting them for a while now. Born in Uganda and raised in Zambia, she paints a diasporic musical picture that’s simply impossible to resist. Additionally, this core member of Uganda’s Nyege Nyege collective is a writer and activist fighting marginalisation and oppression, with an energy that carries over onto the stage as she platforms various underrepresented sounds, scenes, and artists. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her back for Dekmantel Festival ’25.
