Inspired by pre-colonial cosmologies rooted in their Vietnamese-Chinese heritage, Marvin’s Moluccan and Lưu Thoại Linh concoct a spiritual, hybrid vision of contemporary club music. Composed of tightly wound metallic loops and pneumatic kicks, their sound incorporates elements of techno, bass, electro and gabber, distorted live vocals and plenty of DIY hardware. Sharing a devout passion for synthesisers, at Dekmantel ’24, except to find the Rotterdam-based duo behind a stack of synths and tangled web of patches, channelling their tirelessly technical and multidisciplinary approach into a dance floor ritual.
